Gathering place for this ride is southwest corner of Cocoa Village Parking Lot, at Stone and Florida Ave.
Saturday morning ride serves as social reconnect after the work week, a learning session, and warmup to Sunday C and B rides. Ride Leader/Ride Marshals (RL/RM) will be identified before the ride.
Social reconnect – South River Road, 14 miles, C pace. Group will stay together usually in a double pace-line until getting back to Cocoa.
- Non-members are welcome for your first ride with the Club. Please identify yourself to the Ride Leader. You must join the club to be covered by our insurance.
- D riders (with no group experience) are welcome, and should let the Ride Leader know they are participating.
Learning session, warmup for Sunday rides – North River Road, 14 miles, B pace, max 20mph. Group will stay together in double or single pace-lines; RL/RM will guide riders in fine points of cycling technique and group skills. C riders are welcome if they feel confident in riding the distance, and comfortable with riding in a group.
The ‘A’ Extension continues another 4 miles from the north end of River Road (@ Fire station). This extension gives our most skilled and strongest ‘A’ riders a better place to ride at a challenging pace, typically 23+mph. While participation here is self-selected, if the RL/RM is not confident in a rider’s skills, that rider may be asked to stay with the B group back to Cocoa.
In the event of River Road flooding from heavy rains, or a change of scenery, the West Cocoa Route may be called. This route takes riders into West Cocoa rural and ranchette neighborhoods. Rest/refuel stops at Junny Rios Martinez Park and Flying J Convenience Store.
This ride usually ends with a social gathering (off-bike) at Ossorio’s Cafe.
