Wooten Park
100 E Ruby St
Tavares, FL 32778

4/26/17 Important Update: Start/finish is moved to Wooten Park, 100 East Ruby Street, Tavares. This is to avoid the Blueberry Festival happening this weekend in Mt Dora.

SCFW club ride in the Clermont Hills near Mt Dora, featuring a 20 mile C ride, and either 51 or 41 mile B ride. Ride Leaders are Jim O’Leary, Dave Joy, and Brett Tower.

20 mile C ride – A relaxed ride on mainly flat roads around Lakes Dora, Beauclair & Carlton.
Rest/refuel at Wild Bear Coffee in Tavares, mile 13.5.

51 or 41 mile B ride –
51-miler climbs Sugarloaf Mountain and Buckhill Roads; this is a very challenging course.
41-miler is a more direct route with two climbs between miles 13.6 and 16.3; rest of course is fairly flat.
Depending on participants, ride leaders will decide on the appropriate route.
Rest/refuel at Yalaha Bakery in Yalaha, FL (see route maps). Bring along plenty of food/hydration; if not prepared you risk “the bonk”.

Post-ride refreshment: Lunch at a nearby Tavares restaurant (Ruby St Grill, Puddle Jumpers, or O’Keefe’s Irish Pub). Appetizers provided by club; full meal & drinks are personal responsibility.

  1. The start/finish location for this weekend’s Mt Dora Ride is moved from Gilbert Park to Wooten Park, 100 Ruby Street, Tavares, FL 32778.
Wooten Park is along the waterfront south of Main Street near downtown Tavares. This new location is on the original course, about 6 miles away from Mt Dora.
This change was necessary to avoid the Mt Dora Blueberry Festival happening this weekend. From everyone we talked to Mt Dora will be packed, Gilbert Park inaccessible, and their restaurants booked up.
The website calendar entry and all RideWithGPS maps/cuesheets are updated to reflect the changed start location. If you already downloaded a map/cuesheet to your bike computer, you’ll have to delete it and download again. (Sorry)
Use the calendar entry here to get to the individual maps:
Rollout time is still scheduled for 8:30am, and remember to allow a few extra minutes for arrival and bike setup.
    Thank you,
    Jim O’Leary, Ride Director
